Spotlight On Culture

Art is an integral part of life at L’Ancre des Jeunes. It is therefore not surprising that we encourage the young people who frequent our organization to explore several artistic mediums and to see exhibitions! They did just that last December.

Accompanied by a few speakers, the young people registered in the programs of Back-to-school support visited some emblematic places of Montreal.

They were able to fill up on culture by attending the 5th International Digital Art Biennial (BIAN), organized by ELEKTRA, at Arsenal Contemporary Art Montreal. The theme explored by the 5th edition of the BIAN was that of metamorphosis: “a topical subject that echoes the pandemic situation and the changes it brings to our lifestyles.”

The young people from Rhangage also took the opportunity to admire the works of artists Hannah Epstein and Nico Williams at the Blouin Division gallery in addition to venturing out to the PHI Centre.

A foray into the Jano Lapin gallery, located in the heart of Verdun, allowed young people to see the exhibition “Our Unconscious Territories” and to discuss with the artist Rosalie Gamache about her inspiring journey.

Fingers crossed that this cultural experience can happen sooner rather than later!
